Game Recap

Hoover was out seeking a first, 7A Championship and Boys’ Basketball State Championship. In its way was two-time state champion, third ranked Mountain Brook. Both teams reached the inaugural 7A Championship Game with double time wins on Thursday night.

Hoover was able to take an early 8-0 lead to start the game but Mountain Brook only trailed 21-20 at the half leaving it to any team’s game in the second half. The Bucs (27-9) were able to keep the lead and come out with its first ever 7A championship with a 50-43 victory.

Tournament MVP Austin Cherry led the way for the Bucs with 14 points and nine rebounds. Leonard Wood scored eight points and had five steals. Maurice Brown and Sam Bowman each had seven points. Brown also grabbed nine rebounds for the Bucs.

Dylan Smith was also added to the Tournament team.

For Mountain Brook, Jack Kline and Terrell Guy each had 15 points for the Spartans (27-8).
