Boys Tennis Wins Decatur Invitational Tournament; Girls Tennis Finishes Third

The Hoover boys tennis team won the Decatur High Invitational Tournament on Saturday with several hard fought wins in singles play. Derek Tucker (#2 singles), Chase Vourlotis (#3 singles), and Matthew Sherrill (#4 singles) all won individual championships. Manish Gorre was the runner up at #5 singles after a close 10-8 loss to Florence in the championship. Hoover’s #2 boys doubles team of Vourlotis and Gorre also finished in second place with an 11-10 (7-2) tiebreaker loss to Florence.

The Hoover girls team tied for third place. Cierah Sitko (#1 singles) and Caroline Sall (#4 singles) both won individual championships. Hoover’s #2 girls doubles team of Hannah Williams and Sall finished in second place.

In addition to Hoover, the single elimination tournament was comprised of Austin, Bob Jones, Cullman, Decatur, Florence, Gadsden City, James Clemons, and Madison County.
