JV Results from Last Week

The JV softball season opened up last week and below are the results of the 4-2 start. The Bucs continue their season this week with home games Tuesday and Thursday before finishing the week at Moody JV Tournament.

2.20.17: McGowan Throws Shutout As Hoover JV Defeats Hueytown

Atira McGowan didn’t allow a single run as Hoover JV defeated Hueytown 22-0 on Monday. McGowan allowed just one hit.

Jackie Smith led Hoover JV to victory by driving in four runs. She went 2-for-2 at the plate. Smith drove in runs on a home run in the first and a single in the first.

Hoover JV had 19 hits in the game. Harper Niblett, Katie Threeton, MG Underwood, Bayley Yarbrough, Smith, and Olivia Woodruff each collected multiple hits for Hoover.  Hoover JV was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Underwood made the most plays with three.

2.21.17: Hoover JV Falls to Sparkman

Rainy day for the Bucs as they fall to Sparkman 17-0. Bucs had one hit thanks to Harper Niblett. The Senators tagged nine hits in the win. Atira McGowan took the loss for the Bucs.

2.22.17: Fernandez Throws No-Hitter As Hoover JV Defeats American Christian Academy

Fran Fernandez was brilliant on the mound on Tuesday, as she threw a no-hitter to lead Hoover JV past American Christian Academy 14-0.

Hoover JV grabbed an early lead. Hoover JV scored on a single by Haley Green, a double by Abigail Sunday, and an error in the first inning.

Hoover JV took an early lead in the first inning. Katie Threeton’s sac fly scored one run for Hoover JV.

Fran Fernandez earned the win for Hoover JV. She pitched four innings, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out four, and walking zero.

Hoover JV had 13 hits in the game. MG Underwood, Sunday, and Madison Dabney each collected multiple hits for Hoover JV.

2.24.17: Hoover JV Beats Beauregard Behind McGowan’s No-Hitter

Atira McGowan didn’t allow a single hit as Hoover JV defeated Beauregard 11-0 on Friday. McGowan struck out the final out.

Hoover JV didn’t take the lead until later in the game. Hoover JV scored two runs when Harper Niblett singled with zero outs in the third inning.

Hoover JV collected 17 hits. Katie Threeton, Niblett, MG Underwood, Atira McGowan, and Madison Dabney each collected multiple hits for Hoover JV. Olivia Woodruff, Nikki Busby, Threeton, and Niblett each drove in two runs to lead Hoover JV. Hoover JV was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Abigail Sunday made the most plays with five.

Beauregard didn’t commit a single error in the field.

2.24.17: Niblett’s Walkoff Gives Hoover JV Victory Over Enterprise

Hoover JV defeated Enterprise 8-7 on Friday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at seven with Hoover JV batting in the bottom of the fifth when Harper Niblett singled driving in the winning run.

Despite falling down by four runs in the third inning, Enterprise tried to fight back. Enterprise scored four runs in the failed comeback.

Enterprise took an early lead in the first inning. Enterprise scored one run when they doubled with one out in the first inning.

After Enterprise scored one run in the top of the third, Hoover JV answered with one of their own. Hoover JV then answered when a runner stole home.

Enterprise evened things up at seven in the top of the fourth inning.

Hoover JV scored three runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a error and a stolen base.

Haley Green led Hoover JV with two runs batted in. She went 1-for-2 on the day.

Katie Norris came in relief to get the win striking out three batters.

2.25.17: Hoover JV Can’t Quite Erase 6-Run Deficit In Loss To Spain Park

Despite a 6-run deficit in the second inning, Hoover JV almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-7 to Spain Park on Saturday. Hoover JV scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a single by Harper Niblett in the second, a error in the second, a passed ball in the second, a single by Katie Threeton in the fourth, and a double by Haley Green in the fourth.

Hoover JV was right in it until Spain Park in the fifth inning.

Spain Park captured the lead in the first inning.

Hoover JV evened things up at seven in the bottom of the fourth inning. Haley Green doubled on a 1-0 count in the fourth inning, scoring two runs.

Hoover JV scored four runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Harper Niblett, a error, and a passed ball.

Hoover JV collected nine hits. Niblett, MG Underwood, and Atira McGowan each collected multiple hits for Hoover JV.
