Spain Park girls golf team wins Hoover’s March Madness golf tournament for the second straight year. In this two-round tournament, Spain Park held a 3 stroke lead after day one and finished the tournament with a 5 stroke win over Fairhope and 6 over Hoover.
20 teams from all over the state took part in this annual event hosted by Hoover and held at two different venues. The girls battled miserable weather throughout the tournament.
Rainy and wet conditions with wind chills in the low 30s made scoring difficult. Round 1 was held at Hoover Country Club and round 2 was at Bent Brook Golf Course.
Virginia Green of Fairhope and Caroline Waldrop of Spain Park tied for low medalist honors with a two day total of 142.
Hoover’s Mychael O’Berry and Julie Baker were named to all tournament team.
Two individuals hit a “Hole-in-one” during the first round at Hoover Country Club.
Savannah Johnson of Huntsville on hole 17
Emma Cox of Providence Christian on hole 12
