Hoover Varsity Holds Off Vestavia Hills For Victory
Hoover Varsity built a four-run lead in the fourth inning and then held off Vestavia Hills’s charge for a 6-5 victory on Wednesday. Vestavia Hills scored three runs in the failed comeback on a groundout by #8 in the fifth, a single by #18 in the fifth, and a single by #8 in the sixth.
Hoover Varsity took an early lead in the first inning. Abby Tissier doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Vestavia Hills evened things up at two in the top of the second inning. With one out in the second inning #4 drove in two runs when she singled.
Hoover Varsity took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth #24 walked Sydney Chandler and Hannah Presley singled off of #24, driving in one run.
Madeline Harris earned the win for Hoover Varsity. She tossed seven innings, surrendering five runs, eight hits, and striking out four. #24 took the loss for Vestavia Hills. She went three innings, surrendering six runs, six hits, and striking out two.
Hoover Varsity had six hits in the game. Tissier and Presley each collected two hits.
#4 led Vestavia Hills with two hits in three at bats.
