Hoover Buccaneers Varsity Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Central Phenix City
Hoover Buccaneers Varsity took the lead late and defeated Central Phenix City 5-3 on Monday. The game was tied at three with Hoover Buccaneers Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Garrett Farquhar singled, driving in one run.
Central Phenix City evened things up at three in the bottom of the third inning. With zero outs in the third inning Knox drove in one run when he singled.
Griffin Lape earned the win for Hoover Buccaneers Varsity. He tossed three innings, surrendering zero runs, two hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Sonny Dichiara entered the game in the seventh, to earn the save.
Brock Guffey started the game for Hoover Buccaneers Varsity. He pitched two innings, surrendering zero runs, three hits, striking out one, and walking zero.
Hoover Buccaneers Varsity had six hits in the game. Nolan Hammonds and Garrett Farquhar each collected multiple hits for Hoover Buccaneers Varsity. Farquhar and Hammonds each managed two hits to lead Hoover Buccaneers Varsity.
