Hoover Varsity got out to a seven-run lead in the sixth inning and held on for a 9-7 victory over Fort Payne on Wednesday.

Hoover Varsity grabbed an early lead. Hoover Varsity scored on a double by Willa Green in the first inning, scoring two runs, a triple by Abby Tissier in the second inning, a single in the second inning, and a single by Mallory Mus in the second inning.

Hoover Varsity scored four runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to a triple by Tissier. Fort Payne scored five runs in the seventh inning. Fort Payne’s big inning was driven by a grand slam by #24.
Brynn Parker earned the win for Hoover Varsity. She threw three innings, surrendering zero runs, zero hits, striking out four, and walking zero. Two relievers helped Hoover Varsity close out the victory. Frannette Fernandez threw two and two-thirds innings. Parker recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Hoover Varsity. #13 took the loss for Fort Payne. She pitched six innings, giving up nine runs, 12 hits, and striking out two.

Hoover Varsity had 12 hits in the game. Mus, Caroline Nichols, Tissier, Kaley Anthony, and Hannah Presley each collected multiple hits for Hoover Varsity. Presley, Anthony, Tissier, Nichols, and Mus each managed two hits to lead Hoover Varsity.
Fort Payne collected ten hits. #7, #23, and #8 each collected multiple hits for Fort Payne.
