Multiple Teams · JV Softball Recap from Last Week


Last week the JV went 5-3-1 finishing the week as Runner-Up in the Moody Tournament. The team is now 9-5-1 on the season. Here is the recap of last week.

02.28: Late Score Costs Hoover JV Against Hayden

Hoover JV stayed in it until the end, but Hayden pulled away late in a 9-8 victory on Tuesday. The game was tied at eight with Hayden batting in the top of the third when the Wildcats singled off of Atira McGowan, driving in one run.

Despite the loss, Hoover JV did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Hayden had 11 hits on the way to victory.

Hayden scored five runs in the second inning. The big inning for Hayden came thanks to a wild pitch, a single, a double, a error, and a single.

Harper Niblett and MG Underwood each collected multiple hits for Hoover JV.

03.02: Hoover JV Grabs Lead In Third Inning For Victory Over Helena

Hoover JV took the lead late and defeated Helena 9-6 on Thursday. The game was tied at one with Hoover JV batting in the bottom of the third when Haley Green singled, driving in one run.

Helena scored five runs in the fourth inning, but Hoover JV still managed to pull out the victory.

Helena captured the lead in the first inning. An error scored one run for Helena.

Jordyn Johnson went 2-for-2 at the plate as she led the team with two runs batted in.

Helena collected nine hits.

03.03: Lincoln And Hoover JV Play To A Draw

Hoover JV captured the lead in the first inning. Hoover JV scored one run when MG Underwood tripled with zero outs in the first inning.

Haley Green then drove in Underwood for its two runs.

03:03:Springville Captures Lead Early To Defeat Hoover JV

Hoover JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 9-0 loss to Springville on Friday. Springville took the lead on a double in the first inning.

Springville captured the lead in the first inning.

Springville scored five runs in the fifth inning.

A single by Jackie Smith in the third inning was a positive for Hoover JV. Smith and Haley Green each managed one hit to lead Hoover JV.

Springville collected nine hits. Springville didn’t commit a single error in the field.

03.04: Hoover JV Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over Helena

Hoover JV jumped out to an early lead over Helena and took home a 6-0 victory on Saturday.

Hoover JV captured the lead in the first inning. Katie Threeton drove in one when she singled in the first inning.

Hoover JV collected ten hits. Harper Niblett, MG Underwood, and Nikki Busby each collected multiple hits for Hoover JV. Hoover JV was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

03.04: Hoover JV Grabs Lead In Fourth Inning For Victory Over Hewitt-Trussville

Hoover JV defeated Hewitt-Trussville 3-1 on Saturday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at one with Hoover JV batting in the top of the fourth when there was an error, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Fran Fernandez struck out five, while Hewitt-Trussville pitchers sat down two.

Hewitt-Trussville took an early lead in the first inning.

Hoover JV evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. With two outs in the third inning Katie Threeton drove in one run when she singled.

Hoover JV took the lead for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth there was an error, scoring one run.

Threeton led Hoover JV with one run batted in. She went 1-for-3 on the day. Hoover JV didn’t commit a single error in the field.

03.04: Seven RBI Day For Sunday Leads Hoover JV Past Moody

Seven runs batted in from Abigail Sunday helped lead Hoover JV past Moody 11-4 on Saturday. Sunday drove in runs on a double in the first, a double in the third, and a double in the fourth.

An early lead helped propel Hoover JV to victory. Hoover JV scored on a walk by Nikki Busby and a double by Abigail Sunday in the first inning.

Hoover JV captured the lead in the first inning.

Hoover JV scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Haley Green and a double by Sunday.

Hoover JV collected nine hits. Sunday and Harper Niblett each collected multiple hits for Hoover JV.

03.04: Hoover JV Grabs Lead In Third Inning For Victory Over Chelsea

Hoover JV took the lead late in the game in a 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday. The game was tied at one with Hoover JV batting in the top of the third when Katie Threeton singled to drive in one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Fran Fernandez struck out four.

Chelsea took an early lead in the first inning. Chelsea scored one run when #15 singled with two outs in the first inning.

Aubrey Moody, MG Underwood, Bayley Yarbrough, Abigail Sunday, Jackie Smith, Harper Niblett, and Katie Threeton all had one hit to lead Hoover JV. Hoover JV was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.

03.04: Springville Captures Lead Early To Defeat Hoover JV

Hoover JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 4-1 loss to Springville on Saturday. Springville scored on a stolen base in the first inning.

Springville captured the lead in the first inning.

Haley Green, Jackie Smith, Abigail Sunday, and Katie Threeton each collected one hit to lead Hoover JV.

Springville collected five hits. Springville was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error.
