The Hoover High School eSports teams continue moving forward with successful seasons. Both the League of Legends and the Rocket League teams field impressive efforts each week; each team winning many contests and sprinkling in a few hard-fought defeats. HHS eSports looks forward to clinching playoff spots in the next few weeks. Playoffs begin April 30th for League of Legends and May 2nd for Rocket League.
League of Legends took a tough loss to rival and top-10 ranked Spain Park on April 2nd. The gap between Spain Park and Hoover was narrow; Spain Park edging out the Bucs 66 eliminations to 42. This loss allowed the Hoover side to refocus and came back strong to win their next two matches against West Blocton and Bob Jones White by a combined elimination differential of 159-31. Hoover looks to build on their 13th overall ranking this week with tough matchups with Huntsville and James Clemmons on 4/16.
The Rocket League team played three games on April 4th and came away with a 2-1 record. The Bucs took wins over the “Mad Hornets” of Baker High and Citronelle, and gave up a loss against Bob Jones Fusion. Despite losing another match to top-ranked Chilton County, the Bucs are tied for 7th in the state and look forward to continuing to gain momentum heading into the playoffs.
