The Hoover Bucs Junior Varsity softball team season is went 1-1 last week and are now 2-1 on the season. Below is the recap. The Bucs are at home this week with a double on Wednesday and the JV Round Robin on Friday and Saturday.

v. Chelsea (W 5-3)

Hoover Bucs JV defeated Chelsea 5-3 on Tuesday.

Bucs opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run.

Becca Clark earned the victory in the pitcher’s circle. The pitcher surrendered three runs on ten hits over five innings, walking one.

Hoover smacked two home runs on the day. Maggie Mackin went for the long ball in the first inning. MC Detwiler had a four bagger in the third.

Ki Davis led Hoover Bucs JV with two hits in three at bats.

v. Vestavia (L 13-6)

Hoover Bucs JV stayed in it until the end, but Vestavia Hills pulled away late in a 13-6 victory on Thursday. Vestavia Hills trailed 3-2 in the top of the second inning giving up a doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Hoover did collect four hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Vestavia Hills had 12 hits on the way to victory.

Vestavia Hills pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning.

Hoover Bucs JV notched three runs in the third inning. Maggie Mackin had an RBI home run in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Vestavia Hills scored seven runs in the third inning.

Emma Jones led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Hoover Bucs JV. The pitcher surrendered six runs on six hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one. Becca Clark threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Hoover Bucs JV socked one home run on the day. Mackin had it in the third inning.

MC Detwiler, Mackin, Kate Dinkel, and Christian Congleton each managed one hit to lead Hoover Bucs JV.
