Hoover (29-7) defeated Tuscaloosa County in the first round of the area tournament. Paige Shaw led the Bucs with 15 kills, 11 digs, and 5 blocks. Mackenzie Martin chipped in 7 kills, and Savannah Gibbs led the defense with 16 digs. The Bucs will face the winner of Vestavia and Thompson in the Area 5 championship at 6pm.

Hoover (27-7) finished area play undefeated with a win over Tuscaloosa County in three sets. Tonight, Hoover also honored five seniors for Senior Night: Anna Marie Auchmuty, Savannah Gibbs, Jamie Gregg, Paige Shaw, and Brayden Williams. Paige Shaw led the Bucs with 17 kills, 3 digs, 2 blocks, and 1 ace. Savannah Gibbs led the defense with 16 digs and 2 aces. Hoover will play their last regular season match this Thursday, home, against James Clemens at 5pm.

Game Recap

Hoover (21-6) defeated Spain Park at home in four sets. Hoover got off to a slow start with Spain Park winning the first game 25-18. Hoover battled back and took the next three sets, and a service ace by Paige Shaw clenched the match for the Bucs. Paige Shaw led Hoover with 23 kills, 14 digs, and 1 ace, and Caroline Raybon chipped in 8 kills. Jamie Gregg recorded 39 assists, 13 digs, 6 aces, and 2 blocks. Savannah Gibbs added 14 digs and 2 aces. The Bucs will compete in the Margaret Blalock Tournament this weekend at Homewood High School.
