Game Recap

Hoover couldn’t capitalize on a great day from Abby Grace Praytor on Friday, losing 1-0 to Thompson in 10 innings at AHSAA Regional Tournament at Sokol Park.

Praytor worked out of six tricky spots for the Bucs. She pitched 9 2/3 innings and allowed no earned runs on four hits. Praytor faced her toughest moment in the tenth inning.

Haley Crumpton got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She tossed 10 innings of shutout ball. She struck out 24, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Praytor was the game’s losing pitcher.

The tenth inning saw Thompson score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Kelsey Hutchison.

Thompson moves on to Saturday’s elimination game while the Bucs season ends (23-22).

A tight game was decided in the sixth inning as the Hoover Buccaneers fell to Spain Park 5-3 on Friday at AHSAA Regionals at Sokol Park.

M K Bonamy got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed three runs over seven innings. Bonamy struck out two, walked none and gave up five hits.

Abby Grace Praytor took the loss for the Bucs. She lasted just five innings, walked eight, struck out five, and allowed five runs.

The bottom of the third saw the Jags take an early lead, 1-0.

Spain Park matched its two-run fifth inning with two more in the sixth. After the Bucs tied the game with three runs of their own in the top frame of the inning.

The Hoover Lady Bucs win Substate-advances to State Tournament

The Lady Bucs fired a tournament low 231 to win the class 6A-7A Substate(South Region) tournament played at Heron Lakes Country Club in Mobile. The Buc’s score was 11 shots better than second place Auburn(242), while Spain Park finished third with a 244.

Mychael O’Berry led the Bucs with an even par 72 followd by Julie Baker’s 78, Elizabeth Moutlrie’s 81 and Carson McKie’s 82. O’Berry was also the tournament low medalist two strokes ahead of last year’s defending individual champion, Virginia Green of Fairhope.
Green(74) and Caroline Waldrop(75) of Spain Park will advance to the State Finals as individual competitors.

Hoover will try to defend their 2014 State Championship next Monday and Tuesday in the Sate Finals at RTJ-Magnolia Grove golf course in Mobile. Hoover and Auburn both advance to the team finals to face two more teams from the North Substate region to be decided later today.

The Hoover Lady Bucs are happy to officially announce a partnership with McDonald’s as the title sponsor of their Big Orange Invitational Thanksgiving tournament next season!

Varsity participants of next season’s Big Orange Invitational are Hoover, Bob Jones, Carver – Montgomery, Charles Henderson, Montevallo, Northridge, Miller Grove (GA), Austin, Bessemer City, Central – Tuscaloosa, Talladega, and Demopolis!

This relationship has opened doors for the Lady Bucs lately, giving them an opportunity to spend some time serving the staff and families at the Ronald McDonald’s House Charity in Birmingham. You can read about their experience as well as see some photos from there visit here.

The Hoover Lady Bucs took some time on Tuesday night to volunteer and help the people at the Ronald McDonald House in Birmingham. They were able to take a tour, learn all of the amazing services offered by the Ronald McDonald House, as well as help do some things to assist the staff.

McDonalds will be sponsoring next season’s Big Orange Invitational so it was a great opportunity to give back!

Multiple Teams · Hoover Lady Bucs Selected as North-South All-Stars


The postseason continues to be good to the Lady Bucs. Jr. Guard Jailyn Maddox and Jr. Forward Kendra Langham were both selected to the AHSAA North-South All-Star teams. Both Jailyn and Kendra will play for the North squad when the two sides face off on July 22nd at 6 PM in Montgomery, on the campus of Alabama State University. They join Sr. Guard and Union University signee Jada Smith as postseason All-Star performers.

Jada represented Hoover in the Annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game on March 20th with 15 points.

 

We are very proud of the work these two young ladies have put in on and off the basketball court!

Hoover defeated Spain Park 3-0 in the opening round of the state playoffs. Ian McIntosh scored the first goal on a corner kick from Alex Tovar in the 3rd minute. Alex Tovar scored the second goal unassisted in the 7th minute. Joel Charles scored the third goal assisted by Alex Tovar in the 37th minute. Jackson Hoesley made 3 saves in goal for the shutout. Hoover record is 18-4-3.
