The Hoover Buccaneers lost a battle of the bats on Saturday at Mortimer Jordan Tournament Championship, falling short in a 14-10 ballgame against Pisgah.
The Hoover Buccaneers had the lead early, but couldn’t hold off Pisgah. The Hoover Buccaneers led until the fourth inning, but Pisgah took the lead back on an RBI single by Rogers.
Shelby Lowery was solid at the plate for the Hoover Buccaneers. Lowery went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the first innings.
#23 recorded the win for Pisgah. She allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings. #23 struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.
Home runs for Pisgah came when McCrary homered in the first inning, #5 homered in the third and fourth innings, and #10 homered in the fourth inning.
Abby Grace Praytor was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in one inning, walked three and struck out none.
In the top of the first, Pisgah grabbed the early lead, 5-0. A three-run home run by McCrary, scoring Rogers and Hannah Weaver started the inning off. More runs came home for Pisgah when Womack scored on an RBI double by #55 and scored on an RBI single by #00.
The Hoover Buccaneers scored 10 runs of their own in the first. The Hoover Buccaneers scored on a steal of home by Mary Catherine Nichols, an RBI single by Abby Tissier (1 for 3), a wild pitch, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Kendall Vickery (went 1 for 2), an error, an RBI single by Lowery, and a two-run double by Kaley Anthony (went 1 for 3).
Pisgah went up for good in the fourth, scoring five runs on two solo blasts and an RBI single by Rogers.
