Mary Catherine Nichols went 3-3 at the plate, sparking the Hoover Buccaneers to a 10-5 victory in four innings over Lawrence Co HS on Tuesday at Gulf Coast Classic.
She doubled in the second inning and singled in the first and third innings.
Morgan Pate recorded the win for the Hoover Buccaneers even though she allowed five runs over three innings. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered five hits.

Kaylee Nelson couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Lawrence Co HS, taking a loss. She allowed 10 runs in three innings, walked none and struck out three.

The Hoover Buccaneers went up for good in the first, scoring one run on.

The Hoover Buccaneers tacked on another two runs in the second. Abby Solomon (2 for 2) started the inning with a single. That was followed up by Nichols’ double, bringing home Abby Solomon.

The Hoover Buccaneers increased their lead with six runs in the third. A single by Willa Green (1 for2) ignited the offense,plating Kaley Anthony (3 for 3).

After pushing across five runs in the top of the fourth, Lawrence Co HS faced just a 9-5 deficit. An RBI single by Rachel Childress, a two-run single by Kenzi Bolan, an RBI double by Anna Beth Franks, and a groundout by Madison Jones fueled Lawrence Co HS’ comeback. Finally, Abby Grace Praytor got Laura Tyler to ground out to end the game.

The Hoover Buccaneers let Oxford get away late in 12-5 loss

While the Hoover Buccaneers hung tough on Monday, Oxford pulled away late for the 12-5 victory.

Even though Wilkins allowed five runs over 5 2/3 innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered seven hits.

Jake Thompson took the loss for the Hoover Buccaneers . He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.

The top of the first saw Oxford take an early lead, 2-0. Bolander singled to ignite Oxford ‘s offense. Oxford added more runs when Bolander scored on an RBI single by Sears.

It didn’t take long for the Hoover Buccaneers to answer as they scored three runs of their own in the first. The Hoover Buccaneers scored on a two-run single by Tyler Compher and.

The lead stayed with Oxford after the third, when it scored two runs on a groundout by Syer.

Oxford added two more runs in the top of the fourth. Bolander started the inning with a single, bringing home Hammond.

Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped the Hoover Buccaneers close their deficit to 7-5. A sacrifice fly by Jason Agsalud and an RBI single by Aaron Hill gave the Hoover Buccaneers life. Finally, Hopper got Reid Chandler to ground out to end the threat.

Oxford tacked on another five runs in the seventh. Bolander kicked things off with a single, scoring Hopper.

Second-inning rally sparks win for the Hoover Buccaneers , 10-2

A seven-run explosion in the second inning spurred the Hoover Buccaneers to a 10-2 win in seven innings over Austin at Hoover High on Monday.

The Hoover Buccaneers scored in the second on a bases loaded walk, a two-run single by Caleb Gilbert, a groundout by Hunter Barton, a passed ball, and an RBI double by Christopher Vacarella.

Cory Price went a perfect 1-1 at the dish for the Hoover Buccaneers .

Austin Moore recorded the win for the Hoover Buccaneers . He allowed two runs over three innings. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered three hits.

Adams ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed 10 runs in two innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Hoover Buccaneers never trailed after scoring three runs in the first on two singles.

Game Recap

The Hoover Buccaneers jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 2-1 to Valley on Monday.

Valley took the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Murphy.

Sinpem recorded the win for Valley. She allowed one run over six innings. She struck out seven, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Abby Grace Praytor was charged with the loss. She went six innings, walked none, struck out 10, and allowed two runs.

The first inning saw the Hoover Buccaneers score their only run on the day on an RBI single by Abby Tissier (2 for 3).
Their were some line shots through out the game from Hoover but none that strung together for an extra run.

Valley stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring two runs on a solo home run by Stablin and an RBI single by Murphy.

The Hoover Buccaneers took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Sweetwater, securing a 7-3 victory on Monday at Gulf Shores.

The Hoover Buccaneers took the lead in the fourth inning and held on for the victory. The Hoover Buccaneers went up for good on a two-run single by Abby Tissier (1 for 3) off Black, bringing home Abby Solomon and Mary Catherine Nichols (1 for 2 with a walk).

Kaley Anthony (1 for 2 with a walk) racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Hoover Buccaneers. She doubled in the third inning.

Morgan Pate got the win for the Hoover Buccaneers thanks to seven strikeouts. Morgan Pate allowed no earned runs on three hits and one walk over four innings.

Black took the loss for Sweetwater. She allowed seven runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked four and struck out none.

The Hoover Buccaneers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second. After Willa Green singled, the Hoover Buccaneers kept the pressure on Sweetwater pitching, as Kendall Vickery (1 for 2) singled, plating Green (1 for 2).

Class 7A #7 Hoover finished its spring break tour in GA with a 4-1 win over Savannah Country Day School. The Bucs lead at halftime 1-0 on a goal by Brianna Morris, assisted by Jordan Henderson. Hoover went ahead early in the second half off a corner kick by Hannah Amidon that was tapped in by Vanessa Leckenby. Savannah Country scored a few minutes later making the score 2-1. The Bucs then scored two unanswered goals, one by Henderson off a pass from Ashlie Basantes and then another by Morris, her second goal of the game off the assist by Amidon.

Hoover improves to 11-4-2.

The Hoover Buccaneers lost a battle of the bats on Saturday at Mortimer Jordan Tournament Championship, falling short in a 14-10 ballgame against Pisgah.

The Hoover Buccaneers had the lead early, but couldn’t hold off Pisgah. The Hoover Buccaneers led until the fourth inning, but Pisgah took the lead back on an RBI single by Rogers.

Shelby Lowery was solid at the plate for the Hoover Buccaneers. Lowery went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the first innings.

#23 recorded the win for Pisgah. She allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings. #23 struck out three, walked one and gave up two hits.

Home runs for Pisgah came when McCrary homered in the first inning, #5 homered in the third and fourth innings, and #10 homered in the fourth inning.

Abby Grace Praytor was charged with the loss. She allowed nine runs in one inning, walked three and struck out none.

In the top of the first, Pisgah grabbed the early lead, 5-0. A three-run home run by McCrary, scoring Rogers and Hannah Weaver started the inning off. More runs came home for Pisgah when Womack scored on an RBI double by #55 and scored on an RBI single by #00.

The Hoover Buccaneers scored 10 runs of their own in the first. The Hoover Buccaneers scored on a steal of home by Mary Catherine Nichols, an RBI single by Abby Tissier (1 for 3), a wild pitch, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Kendall Vickery (went 1 for 2), an error, an RBI single by Lowery, and a two-run double by Kaley Anthony (went 1 for 3).

Pisgah went up for good in the fourth, scoring five runs on two solo blasts and an RBI single by Rogers.

Game Recap

The Hoover Buccaneers jumped out to an early lead on Pinson and captured a 13-3 victory on Saturday.

The game was decided quickly as the Hoover Buccaneers exerted their will early with 10 runs in the first three innings.
A solo home run by Morgan Pate (going 1 for 3), a three-run triple by Mary Catherine Nichols (going 2 for 4), an error, and an RBI single by Kaley Anthony (going 2 for 3) during the second inning helped the Hoover Buccaneers put some runs on the board early.

Nichols racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Hoover Buccaneers.

Morgan Pate recorded the win for the Hoover Buccaneers. She allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings. She struck out one, walked one and surrendered four hits.

H Cole ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. She lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

Hoover Buccaneers closer Abby Grace Praytor put away the final four outs to record the save.

Two runs in the top of the third helped Pinson close its deficit to 6-3. A two-run home run by Cole set off Pinson rally. The Hoover Buccaneers stopped the rally after Praytor got Keplinger to fly out.

The Hoover Buccaneers answered Pinson ‘s top inning with four runs of their own in the third. The Hoover Buccaneers scored on a two-run single by Shelby Lowery(going 2 for 3 with a walk) and an RBI single by Anthony.

The Hoover Buccaneers increased their lead with three runs in the fourth. Lowery kicked things off with a single, plating Willa Green (going 2 for 3). That was followed up by Abby Tissier’s triple (going 1 for 4), bringing home Lowery and Kendall Vickery (had 3 PA and walk all three times).

Anthony was solid at the plate for the Hoover Buccaneers. Anthony went 3-4, drove in one and scored one run.
Abby Grace Praytor picked up the win for the Hoover Buccaneers. Praytor pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs, four hits and one walk while striking out two.
Johnsey took the loss for Mortimer Jordan High School. She lasted just one inning, walked three, struck out none, and allowed one run.
The top of the first saw Mortimer Jordan High School take an early lead, 2-0. Allison Linn started the rally for Mortimer Jordan High School with a single. Collier doubled, bringing home Welch and Morgan Maze.

The Hoover Buccaneers went up for good in the third, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Morgan Pate (going 1 for 2) and an error.

With the score tied at five in the sixth inning, Morgan Pate came to the plate and singled, plating Leslie Norris who was running for Katie Jalbert. Morgan Pate racked up three RBIs on two hits going 2 for 3 for the Hoover Buccaneers.
Katie Jalbert had a great night going 2 for 2 with one walk.

Oak Grove was unable to match the Hoover Buccaneers Varsity down the stretch.Despite its efforts, Oak Grove couldn’t finish the comeback.

Abby Grace Praytor got the win in relief for the Hoover Buccaneers. Praytor pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed no runs.

Taylor Watson took the loss for Oak Grove. She lasted just 5 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.

The top of the first saw Oak Grove take an early lead, 5-0. Oak Grove got things going when Nikki Collier singled. Oak Grove pushed more runs across when Walden scored on an RBI single by Collier and Pate and Collier scored on a two-run error.
