Game Recap

Hoover uses big first inning and a stellar performance on the mound from Garrett Farquhar to hold of Wakulla, FL in Tallahassee on Saturday morning.

For the 3rd game in a row, Hoover put pressure on it’s opponent by scoring in the first inning and held on to win. Christopher Vacarella got things started for Hoover after taking the opening at bat of the game to a 3-2 count and fouling pitches off he laced a double in the left-center field gap. Aaron Hill moved him to third with a fly ball to right and Cory Price drove him in with a double to the right field wall. Noah Barron then drove in price with a single through the 6-hole. Hoover extended the inning with a 2 out walk from Jacob Hamner and Nick Austin laced a double over the head of the Wakulla center fielder through a strong wind that was blowing straight in from center.

4 runs was all Garrett Farquhar (1-0) would need as he went 6 strong for the win. Wakulla answered with 3 runs in the 3rd but that would be the only damage they did on the afternoon. Farquhar gave up 3 runs on the afternoon, with only 2 earned and gave way to Aaron Hill who went a scoreless 7th to pick up his 2nd save of the season.

Jason Agsalud had 2 hits on the day for Hoover. Vacarella, Hill, Price, Barron and Austin each hit doubles for Hoover.

Hoover moves to 8-4 on the season and will play Chiles in game 2 of the double header to round out their 2 day trip to Tallahassee.
