The Junior Varsity Lady Bucs notched their fifth win of the season with a 44-17 victory over Shades Valley. Janae Hubbard lead all scorers with 14 points. Rachel Hager added 9 and Jasmine Walker chipped in 6. The Lady Bucs are back in action tomorrow night at Homewood.

The Lady Bucs opened the season with a hard fought game against Mae Jemison out of Huntsville. After having a 5 point lead at halftime, the Lady Bucs finally opened the game up in the 4th quarter. Eboni Williams led the way with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Jennifer Andrew added 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Hoover jumped out to a 20 – 0 lead against Gadsden City to start the game and coasted to an 85 – 60 victory. Marion Humphrey led Hoover with 21 points and 4 assist. Trey Jemison scored 17 points, grabbed 9 boards, and had 4 blocked shots in his debut with the Bucs. Ahman Ellington and Jamari Blackmon both pitched in 11 points. Ellington added 5 assist and CJ Melton had 8 rebounds on the night. Jaylen Cole led the Titans with 17 points. Hoover will play host to Shades Valley on Monday night.

Game Recap

Hoover (31-7) defeated James Clemens in the first round of the Super Regional Tournament, and qualified for the 2017 State Tournament games. Paige Shaw led the Bucs with 30 kills, 9 digs, 2 blocks, and 2 aces. Jamie Gregg tallied 51 assists and 19 digs, and Savannah Gibbs led the defense with 30 digs and 1 ace. Brooke Hoven added 14 digs, and Anna Marie Auchmuty chipped in 12 digs.

Hoover started the match strong and jumped out to a two set lead. James Clemens rallied back and took the third set, but the Bucs answered and finished the match in four. Hoover will face Mountain Brook tomorrow in the Super Regional semi-final at 10am.
