Hoover Bucs Freshman fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-8 loss to Spain Park on Monday. Spain Park scored on a walk by Coleman Gray, a single by Josh Lewis, a single by Webb Harper, a single by Chase Wolsoncroft, and a single by Aiden Berke in the first inning.

Despite the loss, Hoover Bucs Freshman did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Spain Park had seven hits on the way to victory.

Hoover Bucs Freshman scored three runs in the fourth inning. Carter Jackman, Andrew Pitts, and Caid Finn each had RBIs in the frame.

Jack Strawn led things off on the mound for Spain Park. He surrendered six runs on five hits over four innings, striking out one.

Cooper Darty started the game for Hoover Bucs Freshman. Darty allowed two hits and seven runs. Finn, Mason Blasche, and Camden Prothro each contributed in relief for Hoover Bucs Freshman.

Jackman went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hoover Bucs Freshman in hits. Hoover Bucs Freshman tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Jordan Woolen led the way with four.

Spain Park tallied seven hits. Harper and Jacog Byrd all managed multiple hits for Spain Park.
