Preston Moore would not be denied at the plate when runners were on base on Saturday, driving in five on two hits to lead Bucs Varsity past American Christian Academy 18-8 on Saturday. Moore drove in runs on a home run in the second and a single in the third.
Bucs Varsity earned the victory despite allowing American Christian Academy to score eight runs in the fourth inning. American Christian Academy’s big inning was driven by singles by Mason Williams, Wyatt, Trayton Taft, and Hamner, walks by Davis and Jack Ballard, and a fielder’s choice by Lawson Prott.
Bucs Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Peyton Wilson singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Bucs Varsity tallied six runs in the second inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Wilson and Lawrence Hammonds, a home run by Moore, and an error on a ball put in play by Evan Veal.
Daniel Swatek was the winning pitcher for Bucs Varsity. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, walking one. Joshua Kissinger and Trent Tolbert entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Prott got the start for American Christian Academy. He surrendered nine runs on nine hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking one. Higginbottom, Williams, and Wyatt each contributed in relief for American Christian Academy.
Bucs Varsity launched two home runs on the day. Sonny DiChiara had a long ball in the first inning. Moore went deep in the second inning.
Bucs Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up 17 hits in the game. Robby Ashford, Moore, Wilson, and Hammonds all managed multiple hits for Bucs Varsity. Ashford led Bucs Varsity with three hits in four at bats.
American Christian Academy had ten hits in the game. Williams, Hamner, and Taft each collected multiple hits for American Christian Academy.
