Four runs batted in from Sonny DiChiara helped lead Bucs Varsity past Boaz 10-3 on Saturday. DiChiara drove in runs on a sacrifice fly in the first, a home run in the third, and a double in the fourth.
Bucs Varsity secured the victory thanks to six runs in the third inning. Bucs Varsity big bats were led by DiChiara, Nick Davis, Scott Elgin, and Joshua Kissinger, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Bucs Varsity got things started in the first inning. DiChiara’s sac fly scored one run for Bucs Varsity.
Bucs Varsity put up six runs in the third inning. DiChiara, Davis, Elgin, and Kissinger all drove in runs in the frame.
Will Pratt led the Bucs Varsity to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Trent Tolbert threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Tolbert recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Bucs Varsity.
Jacob Smith led things off on the hill for Boaz. He went three innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking one. Lucas Smith threw three innings out of the bullpen.
Bucs Varsity socked two home runs on the day. DiChiara had a four bagger in the third inning. Preston Moore had a homer in the fourth inning.
Bucs Varsity tallied 12 hits in the game. Sam Sanford, Max Garvey, DiChiara, Davis, and Evan Veal all had multiple hits for Bucs Varsity. Veal, Davis, DiChiara, Garvey, and Sanford each collected two hits to lead Bucs Varsity.
Easton Hardin led Boaz with three hits in four at bats.
