Bucs Varsity wins contest against Hewitt-Trussville on Friday, 4-2
In the first inning, Bucs Varsity got their offense started when Peyton Wilson homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
Scott Elgin was the winning pitcher for Bucs Varsity. He went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. Sonny DiChiara and Griffin Lape entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Lape recorded the last out to earn the save for Bucs Varsity.
Michael Fowler led things off on the hill for Hewitt-Trussville. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits and striking out four. Walker Sahagun threw one and one-third innings out of the bullpen.
Bucs Varsity launched two home runs on the day. Wilson had a long ball in the first inning. Preston Moore went for the long ball in the first inning.
Wilson, Daniel Swatek, Moore, DiChiara, Max Garvey, and Sam Sanford each collected one hit to lead Bucs Varsity.
Keith Lanum went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Hewitt-Trussville in hits.
