Bucs Varsity took the lead late in the game in a 6-2 victory over Spain Park on Monday. The game was tied at two with Bucs Varsity batting in the top of the fifth when Sonny DiChiara singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Spain Park tied things up at two. Spain Park scored one run when Moser doubled.
Griffin Lape pitched Bucs Varsity to victory. He went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out seven and walking one. Connor Campbell and DiChiara entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Kennington started the game for Spain Park. He allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out three. Greer and Vercher entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and two innings respectively.
Bucs Varsity scattered six hits in the game. DiChiara and Nick Davis each had multiple hits for Bucs Varsity. Davis and DiChiara each collected two hits to lead Bucs Varsity. Bucs Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Max Garvey had the most chances in the field with 12.
Spain Park was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. John Kennington made the most plays with nine.
