Sean Agsalud drove in eight on three hits to lead Hoover Bucs Varsity past Fairhope 17-6 on Friday. Agsalud drove in runs on a home run in the second, a grand slam in the third, and a double in the seventh.
Fairhope scored five runs in the first inning, but Hoover Bucs Varsity still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Fairhope came thanks to a single by Keaton Fuller, a home run by Brenden Guerry, by Hayden Phillips, and a double by Cam Brock.
Fairhope opened up scoring in the first inning. Brock doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Hoover Bucs Varsity pulled away for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Agsalud homered on a 3-1 count, scoring four runs.
Hoover Bucs Varsity put up six runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Hoover Bucs Varsity was led by Walter Ford, RJ Hamilton, and Ashton Hawkins, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Tyler Wilson was the winning pitcher for Hoover Bucs Varsity. The pitcher lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero. Xander Puliatti and Jon-Matthew Mattson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Fuller led things off on the mound for Fairhope. The bulldog went two and a third innings, allowing five runs on one hit and striking out two. #13, Harrison Sparks, and Dre Matthews each contributed in relief for Fairhope.
Austin Cornelius started the game for Hoover Bucs Varsity. Cornelius surrendered five runs on six hits over three and a third innings, striking out four
Hoover Bucs Varsity launched three home runs on the day. Agsalud went deep in the second and third innings. Ford had a four bagger in the fifth inning.
Hoover Bucs Varsity had seven hits in the game. Agsalud and Carter Short each collected multiple hits for Hoover Bucs Varsity. Agsalud went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Hoover Bucs Varsity in hits.
Fairhope collected nine hits on the day. Brock, Guerry, and Fuller each racked up multiple hits for Fairhope. Brock led Fairhope with three hits in three at bats. Fairhope was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Hollon Brock made the most plays with five.
