The Girls Junior Varsity lost their second road game as they traveled to Trussville. The game was re-scheduled due to a rain out earlier in the week. The Bucs and Huskies played an even game for most of the first half. The home team looked as though they would go with the lead they were awarded a penalty kick right before the half. They were denied as Bucs Goal Keeper Jess Johnson made a terrific save to keep the score 0-0.
The second half remained scoreless until an own goal by Hoover gave Hewitt a 1-0 lead in the 46th minute. They added two more quick goals in the 50th and 54th minutes. At that point in the game, it appeared as the contest was decided until #7 Holly Kenes sparked an exciting comeback. Her first goal came in the 60th minute after a well played assist from Reagan George. Her second goal came just five minutes later as Hoover was awarded a penalty kick. Allie Sanderson took the PK and the shot was deflected by the goalie. Holly scored as she hit the deflection in. However, the comeback fell short as the girls were unable to find another goal despite several opportunities. They will be back in action on 2/19 at 5:00 p.m. as they host Helena. Go Bucs!
