The Bucs were at home last night to face Tuscaloosa County and to celebrate the Senior Class of 2019. And what a memorable send off it was indeed! The first score of the game came very quickly. Bryce Varner scored just two minutes into the match. It was the first goal of many more to come. Senior Team Captain Gabby Walker increased the Hoover lead off a pretty shot at the sixteen minute mark to 2-0. Fellow Senior Co-Captain Sophia Hontzas almost had a goal as well, but a well played cross to her went high over the cross bar. Junior Kyla Shaw scored the first of her three goals off a corner kick that curled in off the far post. The other team Co-Captain got into the score fest as well, as Senior Nicole Kennedy put a nice shot in, for the first of her two goals. The Bucs would go in at the half up 4-0.
During halftime, the Senior Class of 2019 were recognized for their contributions to the program as well as their academic achievements. Each player’s family joined them on the field as their names and accomplishments were recognized.
The second half of the game saw more shots and a lot more goals. Gracie Sears was awarded a penalty kick from a hand ball penalty in the box on a Tuscaloosa Co. Corrine Crawford ended the game by scoring the 10th and final goal.
The Bucs are on the road next Tuesday to face Chelsea High School. Great job Senior Class of 2019!! We are so proud of you all!! Go Bucs!!
