The Bucs were on the road this past Monday to face Vestavia in the first road of the AHSAA playoffs. The Rebels are currently ranked number one in Alabama and also recognized as the number one team in the nation. The Bucs had their work cut out for them if they were to pull out the upset.
The Rebels scored both of their first half goals off two separate defensive breakdowns by the Buccaneers. Hoover’s lone first half goal, came off an own goal by Vestavia. LeAnna Eubanks pressured the Rebel’s keeper into hurriedly trying to clear a back pass. However, she ended up striking the ball into their own goal. The Bucs trailed 2-1 going into the half with the outcome still very much up in the air.
The second half saw the Rebels score quickly off a free kick to go up 3-1. Hoover tried to cut into the lead but were consistently turned away by the Vestavia defense. The Rebels put the game away on a score late in the second half for the 4-1 victory.
Hoover ends the season with an overall record of 9 wins, seven losses and four ties. To the seniors of 2019, we want to thank you for the way you always represented our program. Your hard work, determination and never quit attitudes are what defines wearing the Orange and Black. Best of luck ladies! Go Bucs!
