Hoover Bucs Varsity defeated Pelham 9-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Emily Sims earned the win for Hoover Bucs Varsity. She lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Olivia Christian threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
J Gray took the loss for Pelham. The pitcher allowed six hits and five runs over three innings.
Hoover Bucs Varsity totaled 11 hits. Bailee Tramell went yard in the third inning. Gracie Hillman and Caroline Whisenhunt all managed multiple hits for Hoover Bucs Varsity. Hillman went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hoover Bucs Varsity in hits. Hoover Bucs Varsity tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hillman led the way with three.
