Hoover (38-10) started the morning with a loss in the semifinals to Bob Jones in four sets: 25-20, 23-25, 20-25, 23-25. The Bucs then bounced back with a win over Huntsville in consolation in three sets, 25-14, 26-24, 26-24, earning the Bucs a third-place finish in the tournament.

Amiyah King led the Bucs with 135 assists, 24 digs, eight blocks, three aces, and five kills on the weekend. Rya McKinnon led the offense with 60 kills, 23 digs, seven blocks, and three aces. Gabbi Essix solidified the middle with 31 kills and 15 blocks, and Caroline Raybon tallied 25 kills. Mackenzie Martin led the defense with 60 digs, and Eva Guenster added 26 digs. Baxley Downs led the team in aces with 5.

Hoover will advance to the elite eight of the 7A State Tournament and will face Auburn High School this Wednesday, October 31st, at 12:30 pm at the Birmingham Crossplex.
