A six-run sixth inning led Hoover Bucs Varsity to an 11-2 victory on Wednesday. Jesse Kelley, Lawrence Hammonds, Peyton Wilson, and Robby Ashford each drove in runs during the inning.
Hoover Bucs Varsity pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Ashford doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Hoover Bucs Varsity scored six runs in the sixth inning. Hoover Bucs Varsity’s big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Hammonds and Wilson, a triple by Ashford, and a single by Kelley.
Hammonds took the win for Hoover Bucs Varsity. He surrendered two runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Hoover Bucs Varsity totaled 11 hits in the game. Ashford, Kelley, and Evan Radford all managed multiple hits for Hoover Bucs Varsity. Ashford led Hoover Bucs Varsity with three hits in five at bats.
