Hoover Bucs Varsity managed through a push by Montgomery Central in the sixth inning where Hoover Bucs Varsity coughed up four runs, but Hoover Bucs Varsity still won 13-5 on Wednesday.
Hoover Bucs Varsity knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Daniel Swatek drove in one when he tripled.
Hoover Bucs Varsity pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Robby Ashford singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Swatek doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Alex Baty singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Peyton Wilson tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Avery Anderson was credited with the victory for Hoover Bucs Varsity. He surrendered five runs on five hits over five and a third innings, striking out three and walking one. Cody Crain threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Hoover Bucs Varsity collected 11 hits on the day. Wilson and Swatek all had multiple hits for Hoover Bucs Varsity. Wilson went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Hoover Bucs Varsity in hits.
