Hoover Bucs Varsity defeated Lassiter 7-6 on Saturday thanks to a walk-off single. The game was tied at six with Hoover Bucs Varsity batting in the bottom of the seventh when Jesse Kelley singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
A four-run lead in the second inning was just enough for Hoover Bucs Varsity to hold off Lassiter for the victory. Lassiter scored five runs in the failed comeback.
Hoover Bucs Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning when Evan Radford hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored.
Daniel Swatek earned the victory on the hill for Hoover Bucs Varsity. He went one and one-third innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out three and walking zero. Andrew Sasser and Carter Wright entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Avery Anderson started the game for Hoover Bucs Varsity. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing three hits and two runs while walking one
Kole Roberts went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Hoover Bucs Varsity in hits.
