It came down to the wire on Friday, with Hoover Bucs Varsity taking victory on a dramatic walk-off error in the late innings that sealed their victory over JSerra Catholic. Hoover Bucs Varsity trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the tenth inning when an error scored two runs for Hoover Bucs Varsity.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Hoover Bucs Varsity pitchers struck out nine, while JSerra Catholic pitchers sat down four.
Colson Lawrence was on the mound for Hoover Bucs Varsity. He surrendered one run on five hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking one.
JSerra tied the game in the top of the sixth at 1-1, and went ahead in the top of the tenth. The Bucs battled back and Daniel Swatek’s two-strike ground ball walked off the Lions.
Hoover Bucs Varsity racked up 12 hits in the game. Peyton Wilson, Kole Roberts, and Jack Henry Milligan all managed multiple hits for Hoover Bucs Varsity. Milligan, Roberts, and Wilson each collected two hits to lead Hoover Bucs Varsity.
