Hoover Bucs Freshman defeated Mortimer Jordan 2-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Andrew Pitts induced a double-play from Brown to finish off the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Hoover Bucs Freshman pitchers struck out seven, while Maldonado sat down seven. One bright spot for Mortimer Jordan was a single by Woody in the first inning.

Patrick (PJ) Weatherly was the winning pitcher for Hoover Bucs Freshman. He allowed three hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking zero. Pitts threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Pitts recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Hoover Bucs Freshman.

Maldonado started the game for Mortimer Jordan. The pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over six innings, striking out seven.
